The Literary Drover No. 5010

The Culture of Violence that now exists in the State of Colorado, the United States of America, and around the world was born of Social Media, specifically Disqus, Facebook, and Twitter.

If you want to end The Culture of Violence you must take action, you must make a choice, you must make a decision RIGHT NOW: Stop using Disqus, Facebook, and Twitter IMMEDIATELY.

If you choose to use Disqus, Facebook, and Twitter you condone and contribute to The Culture of Violence that threatens civilization and the future of the human race, manifested as explicit obscenity and threat published to these Social Media platforms. If you choose to use Disqus, Facebook, and Twitter you are just as responsible as the person or persons who kill people in a bar, a nightclub, or at a county fair.

David A. Steinberg (Zeta Global) of Disqus, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Jack Dorsey of Twitter, and every employee of these companies profit from death, murder, and mayhem.

Bring The Culture of Violence to an end. Stop using Disqus, Facebook, and Twitter RIGHT NOW.

When I stopped posting to Facebook no one said a word. When I stopped posting to Twitter again, there was no response. But as Facebook and Twitter take on the appearance of black holes in cyberspace my voice mail and e-mail are overflowing with inquiries wanting to know how I knew they would implode.

I offer a simple explanation: Common sense. It became apparent to me rather quickly that Facebook and Twitter are based on realities born of fraud and deceit, deception and lies – which is why Facebook is appropriately nicknamed “Fakebook”.

To be fair to ‘Fakebook’ Twitter is no different, and efforts in damage control with the declaration that millions of accounts were purged from Twitter because they were deemed ‘fake’ did nothing to slow or prevent the current state of affairs for Twitter.

I add to my reason for abandoning Fakebook and Twitter the realities they cultivated and perpetuate: Unabashed hatred, racism, bigotry, and prejudice, anti-Semitism, sexism, perversity, deviancy, and depravity, along with criminal activity, sedition, treason, and terrorism.

The suggestion that they are toxic is an understatement.

My opinion of Fakebook and Twitter may be misinterpreted, so clarification is appropriate: I remain committed to the opinion and belief that Social Media has almost unequaled potential. But I also believe that in order for the potential to be realized Social Media must be managed. Mark Zuckerberg of Fakebook and Jack Dorsey of Twitter have made it undeniable that they have no intention of managing their platforms so the best response is to kill Fakebook and Twitter and focus on Social Media platforms that are managed and want to realize the potential of Social Media.

Management of successful Social Media, realizing the potential of Social Media can only be accomplished by the individual.
